  • Platinum Experiences

  • Points of Interest

Explore top cultural and natural highlights in Peru on this fascinating Platinum DreamTrip for guests ages 12 years and older. Begin your exciting journey in historic Lima, and see Parque del Amor (Love Park) in Miraflores, Huaca Pucllana (the ceremonial center of the Lima culture) and San Isidro (the financial center). Sightseeing attractions on your full-day Lima city tour include a cathedral and convent, a pre-Inca pyramid and the Museo Larco (Larco Museum). Then, transfer to Magic Water Circuit where you can walk through water tunnels and see an ornamental fountain-and-lights show.

The following day, hop a plane for a short flight to Cusco. Journey to the Valle Sagrado (Sacred Valley) amid the beautiful Andean landscape. Feed the friendly llamas and alpacas at Awana Kancha, and see locals weaving and dyeing traditional textiles. Stop in the colonial town of Pisac and see its ruins — Inca Pisac, perched atop a hill at the valley’s entrance — and visit the impressive Museo Inkariy. Further explore the Valle Sagrado the next day, and take in the phenomenon of the terraces at Moray and salt mines at Maras. End the day’s journey at the village of Ollantaytambo, inhabited since the time of the Incas. Board a train for a scenic journey to Machu Picchu, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, with its numerous terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and more.

Back in Cusco, learn how to cook traditional Peruvian cuisine like a professional during a class at Calle del Medio Restaurante Bar. Prepare and make 2 classic dishes and 1 drink — Causa Limena, Ceviche and the famous Pisco Sour — and enjoy a delicious lunch afterward.

Keep the adventure going later in the day with visits to the Sacsayhuaman archaeological park, the Inca shrine Q’enqo, Puca Pucara viewpoint and Tambomachay. Back in Cusco, visit Korikancha, known as the Temple of the Sun, the site on which the convent of the Iglesia de Santo Domingo was built. Then, explore Cusco’s main square and the Cusco Cathedral.

Enjoy ample leisure time the next day to tour Cusco at your own pace, or simply relax at your hotel. On your final evening, head to the Huaca Pucllana Restaurant, which overlooks the Huaca Pucllana ruins. Savor a delectable farewell dinner crafted by Cordon Bleu Paris-trained head chef Marilu Madueno. The next day, transfer to the airport with your souvenirs and unforgettable memories of this treasured “Land of the Incas.”

What we love:
• Lima’s pre-Columbian heritage mingles with today’s tidy streets, parks and ocean views, along with thriving arts-fashion scenes and culinary wonders.
• Cusco, a stunning destination, serves as the gateway to Valle Sagrado with its landscape of mountain peaks and orchid-rich forests. It's an enchanting place where carnivals and fiestas once merged with pagan traditions and Catholic ritual.
• The village of Ollantaytambo is famed for its massive hillside fortress, Inca ruins and maze-like narrow streets. Known to locals as Ollanta, the village has been continually inhabited since the 13th century.

  • Destination
Lima serves as the capital and largest city of Peru, sitting on the arid Pacific coast and nestled in the valleys of the Chillon, Rimac and Lurin rivers. It is home to the preeminent Museo Larco collection of pre-Columbian art, and its well-preserved colonial center sits amid a bustling metropolis.

The ruins of Machu Picchu perch on a mountain ridge above the Valle Sagrado in the Urubamba Province of Peru. Built in the 15th century, Machu Picchu’s exact use remains a mystery, but most archaeologists believe it was built as an estate for the Incan emperor Pachacuti. More than 200 structures were built here, cleverly constructed to prevent damage from earthquakes and heavy rainfall.

Cusco was the historic capital of the Inca Empire from the 13th through 16th centuries, ending with the Spanish conquest. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the city contains an abundance of Spanish architecture from the days of early colonialization. Its charms are such that some 2 million people visit the city each year.
